Bought this Shaefer beer glass from World Market because it reminded me of buying an $18 six pack from Tony's bar at 3:00 a.m. (I hope this doesn't incriminate him). The beer is a Ferocious IPA clone from midwestsupplies.com. (best homebrew website ever). Turned out great considering I poured in an extra gallon of water by mistake and blew the top off my fermenter. However, I learned that beer is resiliant and you should never throw out a batch. Just give it a little time and TLC. I let this sit in the primary for 2 weeks and 3 weeks in the secondary.
Ingredients:
6 lbs. of Gold liquid malt extract
3.3 lbs of Amber liquid malt extract
4 oz. of Crystal malt 50-60L
1 oz. Warrior hops
2 oz. Amarillo hops
2 oz. Simcoe hops
1 oz. Ahtanum hops
White labs yeast
priming sugar
Original Gravity: 1.066
Final Gravity: 1.016
IBUs = 82
This is a good one, maybe the next time you can not blow up the laundry room so we can repeat the process. Working on this blog made me drink one last night.
ReplyDeleteThe only time Schaefer's was even remotely drinkable was after 3:00 A.M. (an after a round of hotnuts, of course). Hopefully, the artisanal beer crafted from the finest brewers OU has to offer will be palatable throughout the entire day! Additionally, since I do not brew beer myself, I hope to post a few blogs highlighting some of my favorite local beer here in Indianapolis. Then if you guys in Ohio happen to come across any, you will know the well-respected brands from the "piss-in-a-bottle" brands. Great work Romer - the site looks top-notch!

ReplyDeleteThis is part a test to see if you get it but also simp i like the idea of posting good beers to try. we went to the cbus beef festival last weekend and had a ton of good beers. I will post some of them later.
